The fin spacing has a significant influence on the resulting surface area of a heat exchanger: a smaller fin spacing means that more power can be transferred. If the fin spacing is too small, there is a high risk of frequent defrosting, which is not very efficient.
For evaporators, the energy-efficient operation of CO2 deep-freeze applications always goes hand in hand with the balance between the size of the fin spacing vs. the necessary defrosting cycles. For the use of CO2 in deep-freezing, Roller has now developed an optimised tube system for evaporators that meets the specific requirements of CO2 (PS 80bar!) for small tube diameters of 9.52 mm combined with a maximum fin spacing of 12 mm.
Large fin spacing becomes interesting for applications such as
  •     Shock freezers
  •     Cold rooms with increased humidity input due to frequent door opening by charging
  •     No strip curtain between two cold rooms
  •     No pre-cooling room available

 

 

The new Roller heat exchanger with 12mm fin spacing contributes to increased energy efficiency of the overall system by reducing the number of defrosting cycles required. Thanks to its stable construction with a 9.53 mm core tube and a 0.3 mm thick fin, the heat exchanger block can also easily withstand mechanical strain, for example when cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner.
